The Function of Surgical Isolation Gown

The surgical gown is mainly used by medical staff in the operating room. The fabrics used in surgical gowns belong to medical shielding fabrics, so the requirements for fabrics are higher.

Surgical gowns are mainly divided into reusable and disposable surgical gowns. Ordinary cotton fabric, high-density polyester acetate fiber fabric and polyethylene/TPU/PTFE multi-layer film are mainly used for reusable surgical gowns. Disposable surgical gowns are mainly SMS/SMMS surgical gowns, SMS or SMMS non-woven surgical isolation gowns, and non-woven composite materials are used for the reinforcement sheet.

The performance of surgical gown mainly includes barrier performance, adsorption performance and comfort performance.

1. Barrier performance mainly refers to the barrier performance of surgical gowns, and its evaluation methods mainly include hydrostatic pressure, water pressure test, impact penetration, spray, blood penetration, microbial penetration and particle filtration efficiency, etc.

2. Absorption performance is the key area of the surgical gown. The material can absorb the splashing liquid generated during the operation, as well as the water vapor mist and colloidal particle dust (surgical smoke) in the air generated by the use of electric knife and other equipment to reduce the harmfulness in the air. The diffusion of the substance, thereby reducing the risk of infection of the patient's incision site and medical staff;

3. Comfortability includes air permeability, water vapor permeability, drape, quality, surface thickness, static electricity, color, light reflection, smell and skin sensitization, as well as the influence of design and sewing in garment processing. The main evaluation indicators are air permeability, moisture permeability, charge density, etc.

No matter what kind of fabric the disposable gown is, it needs to meet the three attributes of the surgical gown to become a qualified surgical gown.

This surgical gown can block blood splashing during the operation and effectively block the penetration of microorganisms; the back has good moisture absorption, moisture conduction and heat dissipation performance.
