Disposable Medical Isolation Gown

What is a Medical Isolation Gown?

There are currently no national standards and industry standards for medical isolation gowns. The American standard ASTM F3352-19 defines medical isolation gowns as the protection used to protect medical staff, visitors and patients from the transfer of microorganisms and body fluids in the case of patient isolation clothing. Medical gowns can also be used to protect visitors in the medical environment. According to the isolation prevention guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, during surgery and patient care activities, when contact with clothing, blood, body fluids, secretions and excrements are expected, wear surgical isolation gowns to protect the arms and exposed body areas of medical staff.

Medical isolation gowns are widely used in ICU, infectious diseases and infectious disease hospitals in general hospitals. At present, there are two types of medical isolation gowns in clinical use: disposable and non-disposable. Disposable medical isolation gowns are more expensive, and large-scale use will cause a lot of waste. There are many problems in non-disposable medical isolation gowns: the collar, cuffs, and abdomen are easily contaminated, which reduces the use time of medical isolation gowns; the design of cuffs, backs, and bottoms are flawed, which may easily contaminate the work clothes of the staff; the materials are not made. Waterproof etc. Studies have shown that there are many factors that cause nosocomial infections. Among them, direct contact with the infection is that the pathogenic microorganisms or infectious substances colonized by the medical staff and escorts spread to the patients through contact, and the medical staff can effectively prevent the infection by wearing medical isolation gowns. And control the occurrence of nosocomial infections.

Medical Isolation Function

ASTM F3352-19 stipulates that medical isolation gowns are designed to protect medical staff, patients and visitors from blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious substances during patient care or patient treatment.

What is the Difference between Medical Isolation Clothing and Protective Clothing

GB 19082-2009 stipulates that protective clothing is suitable for providing barriers and protections for medical staff from contacting potentially infectious patients with blood, body fluids, secretions, and airborne particles at work.

Medical protective clothing is a disposable protective equipment worn by medical staff clinically when they come into contact with patients with Class A or infectious diseases managed by Class A infectious diseases. When contacting patients with airborne and droplet-borne infectious diseases, they may be splashed by the patient's blood, body fluids, secretions, and feces. But this kind of patient is not very serious but just a general infection.
